What Youths are Doing Online

Youth’s are a demographic that a lot of people / companies are trying to ‘tap into’ and gain their interest. If you want to know how to best get involved with a certain audience, it can certainly be helpful to know what they are up to already:

My Thoughts

First of all, these results certainly don’t surprise me and I fully believe this a fair generalisation for the youths online, some may disagree but what I would have thought were the most popular activities are at the top of this chart. Yet, submitting articles to websites has a much higher percentage than I would have imagined.

Looking at how posting messages is the most popular, can’t we take the characteristics behind that and get people to give more website suggestions and get involved more? I’m thinking things like:

  • Making Clear who you are and interacting. Being seen as a friend
  • Encourage feedback, ask for feedback. Make it easy to give feedback
  • Format content submission to be as simple as a message

Of course these are just ideas from my head, but looking at how people interact online, you can see how people want to interact and how they can interact with you!
