I’ve just finished off my 2nd video which is a little longer, actually has some solid information and hopefully helps you out on your Digg Marketing efforts. I know the quality isn’t perfect and it’s slightly jumpy in parts but I hope you can get past that and find some nuggets of knowledge in there!
One key point I want to stress is that Digg or any other Social Website isn’t there to be manipulated. Write great content, make friends and Digg stories. If you submit something of your own that is quality it will hit the homepage if it ‘deserves too’. Of course there are exceptions to every rule but this is a general theme.
Thanks to the following folks who commented on the first video:
- Paul Bradish
- Sara
- Nate Whitehill, also thanks to nate for giving me some of the motivation to make the video
- Michael Martine
- …and some of the guys at the SEO Forums

Very neat video. You are very clear
Glen, you have a very nice blog here. I love the look. I couldn’t agree with you more about “manipulating” Digg. Digg has become a spammers playground and I don’t visit it as much as I used to.
Well done Glen,
I agree that submitting content, commenting, and flat out social networking (imagine that!) is an excellent way to not only reap the SEO benefits of Digg but enjoy yourself there as well.
I know a few black hats who spend much of their time manipulating social networks. It’s working very well for them now but I hear through the wind that Digg is constantly tweaking and improving their algorithm - and this manipulation will only work for so long.
I think that it is probably a safer route over the long haul to build up a Digg profile the good old fashioned way - by networking :).
Great video, I look forward to the next!
Well done on the video Glen. I have not had much luck with Digg myself.
Glenn, you made the video very well. Very good information on Digg. I don’t have much experience with Digg. I have been using only Stumble Upon. This video has taught me several things. Only thing I felt about the video was that, you were standing stiff and talking straight. Instead move yourself a bit and try to move your hands a bit. You can also see to the sides for giving it a natural look. Just my opinion. Overall, the video had great information and you did a great work. It is easy to comment from here but doing a video is hard and you have done it great.
Cheers,
Ramkarthik.
Thanks for your help over at Authority Blogger Forum!!
My best advice comes from my own favorite v-bloggers. I really happen to like the Jet Set Show and Emergency Cheese (a political guy interviewed Ron Paul in his college dorm room at Georgetown and got picked up my CNN). I like Mitch Joel’s podcast called Six Pixels Apart which is at Twistedimage. I think one thing that he uses that you might add is music on the intro and conclusion (I wish his was a three-five minute format, as thats what I prefer and I think alot of folks like to get their information relatively quickly) . Folks like Kevin Rose that have a cult of personality can get away with longer casts. You might roll with a bright colored shirt or a bright colored background. A lot of folks seem to roll with the Technorati color in the background. Finally, even more light could be helpful.
Nice job!! Keep up the good work!!
Hey Glenn,
Good job with the video. Great insight with your experience with Digg.

great video, well done.
You could always try and sit down when giving the next one, and don’t forget to smile at the camera ! If you’ve seen “Ask A Ninja” you’ll see how he uses camera angles to grab peoples attention, maybe you could try that too a little.
