You’ve probably heard this elsewhere on the web so I won’t go into too much detail:
(Click on the Image for a bigger view). In my opinion the design is a little sleeker, but as TechCrunch noticed it is slightly more feminine. I can see where Digg are heading with this as they plan to release more verticals into the mix which are likely to include Images and there’s the possibility of product reviews coming into play. Just incase you can’t be bothered to go over a check what has changed here’s a little checklist:
Burying a story is now a one-click operation, you don’t have to pick your reason for burying- Once you have Dugg a story the bury option disappears
- New options on category areas give you the opportunity to email and favourite stories
- The positioning of the user profile image has moved from the right to the left
- Video and news are now combined by default but this can be changed
- Focus tends to be a lot on friends activity as shown in the new drop-down menu
So far I’m pretty happy with the changes, especially with a better ability for seeing what my friends are up to instead of having to go to my profile then check it out, makes things a lot easier. I think with the new bury system it’s going to make content a lot less likely to get on the homepage unless they have tweaked the algorithm to cater for the likeliness of a higher number of buries towards stories.
What do you think?

I think it will take me a little time to get used to, but over all the change is for the good !

Though I like the new design, the bury thing is what makes me feel uncomfortable. With that old design itself, people used to bury stories simply. Now that they have the option more visible, many stories will be buried(Just My Guess).
i like the new design but i dont feel comfortable with the new bury button.
